  • How do you say Courchevel?

Resort Lowdown

Famous as the destination of the rich and famous, Courchevel indulges visitors with much more than luxury shopping and champagne bars (although it has lots of that too).

The 5 towns of Courchevel are linked by a winding road that runs up the valley and are connected by pistes and a frequent free bus service. The lowest town being Le Praz (1350m) and the highest Courchevel 1850.

Situated in the Trois (3) Valleys, Courchevel is linked to neighbouring resorts of Val Thorens, Les Menuires, and Meribel to make up the World’s largest ski area. Boasting a leg burning 600km of ridable piste at altitudes of up to 3320m, suiting all levels and ages.

Whether you venture there to ski your heart out or spend relaxing afternoons in the Alpine sun you will find endless possibilities in this picturesque setting, high in the French Alps.

  • Sip Champagne with Russian Oligarchs, explore endless terrain and enjoy the world famous atmosphere of Courchevel, high in the French Tarentaise valley

The SKI Area

With over 600km of skiable piste it would take a serious pro to accept the challenge of covering every piste in 1 week.

The terrain of the Three Valleys Ski area is extremely varied and is suitable for first timers and seasoned skiers and snowboarders alike. There are even free ski lifts in the town for beginners and young children who may not make use of buying a full weeks pass.

75% of pistes in the 3 valleys are either blue or red, which is perfect for intermediate skiers and boarders looking to explore and push their limits.

Much of the resort is north facing meaning that the pistes are in the shade for the longest period of time giving fantastic snow conditions for much of the winter season. When the snow base begins to thin at the end of the season the 2383 state of the art snow cannons are fired up to keep the area in great shape right up until closing time in late April.

When Does Courchevel Open?

Courchevel will open its lifts from the 9th December 2018 until the 22nd April 2019

When To Go To Courchevel?

The altitude and orientation of Courchevel and the surrounding ski area allows for great conditions all season, School holidays in February and Christmas time tend to be super busy but during the off peak weeks in Jan and March and April, holidaymakers can cruise from piste to lift only stopping to scan their ticket.

Must Do Runs at Courchevel

The Chapelets red piste gives its riders a real freeride feel without having to leave the piste. Get there early in the morning and enjoy carving deep into the freshly groomed corduroy piste or veer just outside the poles to enjoy some fresh powder turns.

The Town

Courchevel 1850 is by far the largest town in the area where visitors can find a huge variety of shops, restaurants, bars and amenities along with some great art galleries and sporting facilities. The other towns are also equipped to satisfy even the most active of visitors and if you can't find what you are looking for in your own village there is a free bus service and taxis that run until late at night to the neighbouring resorts.

Off Peak Week recommends taking your swimming costume and checking out Aquamotion, an enormous waterpark and sports centre that is packed with features such as waterslides, a wellness spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an indoor climbing wall, and even a surfing wave!

Eating out in Courchevel is an absolute delight so long as you and your squad can decide between the huge variety of fantastic restaurants serving local dishes along with worldwide cuisine served from the local restaurants and 5 michelin starred eateries.
